What documents do I need to register as a chef?

Getting your profile approved starts with the right paperwork. Here's exactly what's required, and how it depends on your business status.

Required for every chef

  • Proof of identity — passport, national ID card, or driving licence with photo
  • Bank details — the IBAN of the account you want to receive payouts on
  • Proof of Address — your full residential or business address

What else you need, depending on your status

Situation

What's required

Individual / freelancer, no registered business

ID + IBAN + address only. No VAT number required

Registered business (KvK, SIRET, or your country's equivalent)

ID + IBAN + address + business registration details

VAT registered

Your VAT number (optional, but recommended — it's what determines your commission rate)

VAT exempt (e.g. auto-entrepreneur in France, kleine onderneming in Belgium, Regime Forfettario in Italy)

ID + IBAN + address only. Leave the VAT number field blank

Why this matters

Your identity document and address confirm who you are, your IBAN is where payouts are sent, and your business/VAT details (if applicable) determine how your invoices are issued and what commission rate applies. If you're not sure which category applies to you, our Tax ID / Business Number — What to Enter by Country article has the specifics for your country.
