Why book through ChefMaison instead of arranging things directly with a chef?
It might seem simpler to find the chef on Instagram or google, or exchange numbers and handle everything yourselves — but here's what you'd actually be giving up.
What ChefMaison actually does for your event
Booking through the platform isn't just a formality — it's what makes the whole experience run smoothly and safely:
- Structured planning, not guesswork. Proposals are built around your actual event — guest count, menu, timing, location — so nothing gets lost in a casual DM thread.
- Secure payments. Your payment is held securely and only released to the chef after your event takes place — so you're never paying upfront into thin air with no recourse.
- Clear, upfront pricing. Every proposal shows exactly what's included, so there's no ambiguity about what you're paying for.
- Support if something comes up. If a chef cancels, doesn't show up, or something about the booking goes wrong, ChefMaison is there to help — something you simply don't have when a booking exists only in a private chat.
- Everything in one place. Communication, booking details, and payment all live together, so you're never trying to piece together an agreement from scattered messages and screenshots.
None of this exists if a booking happens entirely off-platform — you'd be on your own for all of it.
Why some messages get blocked automatically
You may notice that messages containing personal contact details, or attempts to move the conversation off ChefMaison, are sometimes automatically blocked. This is intentional — it's a security measure that keeps communication, booking details, and payments together in one protected place, for both clients and chefs.
If you pay or arrange anything outside the platform
We strongly recommend against making any payment directly to a chef, or arranging any part of your booking outside ChefMaison. Any agreement or payment made off-platform is entirely at your own risk — it isn't covered or guaranteed by ChefMaison in any way. If anything goes wrong (a cancellation, a dispute, a no-show), we won't be able to step in, since it never went through the platform in the first place.
The bottom line
If you work with a chef through ChefMaison, we can actually support your booking — helping keep the planning, payment, and arrangements properly handled from start to finish. That's the difference between hiring a chef, and hiring a chef with someone looking out for the details on your behalf.
💡 A great chef is only half the experience — the other half is knowing everything is planned, paid, and protected properly. That's what booking through ChefMaison gives you that a direct message never can.
