What happens if the chef doesn't deliver what was agreed?
If something about your event didn't match what was agreed in your proposal, here's what to do and how we can help.
Report it within 24 hours
You have 24 hours after your event to report any issue with the service. This window matters: your chef is paid 48 hours after the event, and once that payout has been processed, we're no longer able to accept complaints about that booking. So if something didn't go as planned, don't wait — reach out to us as soon as possible, ideally the same day.
Document what happened
If your event didn't go as planned — a different menu than agreed, poor service, or something missing — it helps to document it as soon as possible, with as much detail as possible:
- Take photos of the food or setup, if relevant.
- Keep your chat history with the chef, since this shows exactly what was agreed beforehand.
- Note specifics — what was agreed vs. what was actually delivered, timing, and anything else relevant to your event.

Reach out to us at operations@chefmaison.com, within 24 hours of your event, with as much detail as you can. Our team will look into what happened and help resolve it.
Why this matters
Your proposal is the agreement between you and your chef — it's what should have been delivered. When something doesn't match that agreement, we're here to help sort it out, based on what was actually promised versus what happened. Reporting quickly, before the chef's payout is processed, is what allows us to actually step in.
💡 The more detail and documentation you can share — chat messages, photos, timing — the faster and more accurately we can help resolve the situation. Don't wait until later: report it within 24 hours, before the 48-hour payout window closes.
