# How can I edit my tax information on the platform?

If your VAT number, tax ID, or tax-exempt status has changed — or you simply need to correct something — here's exactly where to update it.
## Where to edit your tax information
1. Go to your **Profile**.
2. Open **Personal Info** (Business & Tax info section).
3. Here you can update:
   * Your **VAT/tax number**
   * The **"I am tax exempt"** toggle (if you are)
   * Your **business details** (name, registration, address)
Save your changes once you're done.

## What happens after you update it
* If you add or change a VAT number, it's automatically re-checked against VIES (for EU numbers). If it validates, your commission rate updates to reflect it.
* Changes apply **prospectively** — from that point forward — not retroactively. Invoices and commission already generated for past bookings aren't recalculated.
* If you toggle "I am tax exempt," make sure every item on your future proposals is set to 0% VAT — see [I'm on a small-business with VAT exempt](https://help.chefmaison.com) if you're not sure this applies to you.
## If your VAT number won't validate
See [My VAT number shows as not valid](https://help.chefmaison.com) for the most common reasons and how to fix it. And if you're not sure which number to enter for your country in the first place, check [Tax ID / Business Number — What to Enter by Country](https://help.chefmaison.com).
> 💡 Keeping this information accurate matters beyond your commission rate too — it's what appears on every invoice ChefMaison generates in your name, so it needs to match your actual registration.
